Partnerships

The Sutton Harbour Group is a developer with a conscience. We wouldn’t have it any other way, and that’s why public and private sector bodies prefer working with us. Having been at the heart of Plymouth’s development and redevelopment for 160 years so far, we’ve formed partnerships with Plymouth City Council and other organisations to create developments that add real value to our city through genuine regeneration and respect for our glorious heritage.

Our conscience, and our determination to do the right thing, underpin our approach to business in general as well as our approach to developing in particular. While we have commercial ambitions to fulfill and shareholders to please, we believe we have a duty to all the people involved in or affected by our developments. That means we only become involved in developments that will stand the rest of time. And we always, always, give deep and detailed consideration to the effects our developments will have on the environment and on the communities we serve.

Every project has to satisfy the end user and meet statutory requirements, of course, but we also insist that it’s socially as well as economically and commercially viable. If it isn’t, it’s not for us.

That’s what we mean by partnership. Not just our partnership with local authorities and other organisations, but a true partnership with the people who really matter: the people who live near our developments, who work in them, and are affected by them. We care what they think, we ask what they think, and we use that input to make those developments better. Better for them, better for the client, and better for the future of our region.
