We’ve been serving Plymouth for 160 years – first as the authority responsible for the historic Sutton Harbour, and now as one of the driving forces behind the city’s regeneration and revitalisation.
Just stand where Drake did on the Barbican quayside and wherever you look you’ll see evidence of the difference that we at Sutton Harbour Holdings have made.
The old fish market has been replaced by a state-of-the-art fisheries complex across the water, the harbour itself has been transformed by the hi-tech Sutton Harbour Lock, the marina is a safe haven for 250 boats, and our regeneration schemes have provided homes for the Department for Work and Pensions, the National Marine Aquarium, prestige boatbuilders Princess Yachts, and a host of other businesses.
Look up, over the showpiece homes we’ve built around the harbour, and you might glimpse one of our aircraft from Air Southwest on its way from the city airport we own and run, taking business leaders to London from some of the prestigious offices we’ve developed here.
We’re the only Stock Exchange-listed PLC with a headquarters in Plymouth – a headquarters that overlooks the spot where the Pilgrim Fathers sailed for the New World in 1620.
But, proud of our city’s past as we are, we’re committed to doing everything we can to improve its future.
That’s why Plymouth City Council teamed up with us to form the unique Sutton Partnership to help regenerate the area, and why other local authorities are partnering with us for our regeneration expertise.
Our most recent Sutton Partnership scheme is a 57,000 sq ft office building for the Department For Work And Pensions, and all we can say about our plans for the future is that they’re ambitious!
