Salt Quay House scoops second regional property award

3 November 2009

A landmark building on Plymouth’s Sutton Harbour has won its second regional property award in four months.

Salt Quay House, which was developed by the Sutton Harbour Group, scooped the title of Commercial Development of the Year at this year’s South West Business Insider Awards.

The awards cover the whole of the South West and Salt Quay House beat two other shortlisted developments in Bristol.

In June Salt Quay House was named as ‘Building of the Year’ at the Michelmores and Western Morning News Commercial Property Awards which cover Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.

The judges’ comments revealed that the 42,000sq ft office development won its latest award not only for the excellence of the design and build, but for its transformative impact on Plymouth.

Salt Quay House was described as a “vital component in the regeneration of the city’s harbour and a development that has given Plymouth a statement building to be proud of”.

Nigel Godefroy, chief executive of the Sutton Harbour Group, said: “I’m delighted that our work to create a building of exceptional quality for the benefit of Plymouth, its economy, and its people has been recognised by winning another prestigious regional property award.”

Most of Salt Quay House is occupied by regional law firm Foot Anstey on a 15-year lease, with two floors currently available to let.

Foot Anstey’s Managing Partner, John Westwell, complimented the Sutton Harbour team: “Everyone involved in the project worked to a common vision – and delivered an inspirational building.  This really shows what Plymouth can deliver”.

Salt Quay House is among a number of waterside regeneration projects in which the Sutton Harbour Group is involved, with others in Exeter, Portland and Swansea.
